Student Switch Off is your chance to win prizes for yourself and money for your JCR/MCR summer garden party, all for doing easy things to save energy.

Money for the summer garden party?

Yep! The Cambridge colleges are competing to show their energy-saving credentials and at the end of the year the college that’s got the most involved in the campaign will win £250 towards their garden party. To help your college come top make sure you follow our four energy saving tips.

How do I win Ben and Jerry’s?

We’ve got loads of great prizes to give out in our photo competitions, like Ben and Jerry’s (big tubs!), formal hall tickets, Lush cosmetics, eco gadgets (solar powered phone charger anyone?) and NUS extra cards. These run once a fortnight and usually involve just uploading a picture of yourself saving energy onto the Facebook Fanpage. Simple! There are lots of other competitions as well get on the email list and “Like” the Facebook Fanpage so you don’t miss out.

Which colleges are included?

13 of the 31 colleges have signed up to the 2015/16 campaign as follows: Churchill, Downing, Girton, King’s, Magdalene, Newnham, Pembroke, Queen’s, Sidney Sussex, St. Catherine’s, Trinity, Trinity Hall and Wolfson.

2015/16 results

The joint winners of the 2015/16 campaign were Downing and St Catz who both received £125 for their summer garden party! The stats for the 2015/16 campaign are available here and once again Cambridge was the second best Uni in the country for student engagement – well done!

2014/15 results

The joint winners of the 2014/15 campaign were Downing and Girton. Downing received £125 for their summer garden party while Girton received a big delivery of Ben & Jerry’s! The full stats from the year are available here – again Cambridge was the second best Uni in the country in terms of student engagement so well done Cambridge!

2013/14 results

The stats for the 2013/14 academic year showed that the winning college was… Downing who won £250 towards their end-of-year party! The full stats from the year are available here. The aggregate student engagement stats were the second best of any University in the country so well done Cambridge!
