Student Switch Off

Save energy – win prizes!

Student Switch Off is a not-for-profit campaign that encourages students to save energy when living in student dorms. The base is a competition where dorms compete against each other in saving as much electricity as possible. The winning dorm does not only reduce their energy consumption but as well has the possibility of winning awesome prizes.

For the academic years 2014 – 2016 a total of 102 dorms will take part in Student Switch Off. During the two academic years the campaign will reach more than 6 000 students. The provider SGS Studentbostäder in Gothenburg will let their tenants in the area Olofshöjd have the possibility to compete, a total of 22 dorms. I Stockholm there are 82 dorms competing from the company SSSB’s areas Lappkärrsberget, Kungsghamra och Pax. See if your dorm is part of Student Switch Off here. During the beginning of October we will make dorm visits in both Stockholm and Gothenburg. Check on your area page when and where to meet us and learn more about Student Switch Off!

This term the competition starts on October 15 and goes in till December 15. If you live in one of the participating dorms, join Student Switch Off by clicking on the link below. Updated information will be posted on our Facebook page. Make sure to like us on Facebook for the latest results and useful tips!

While we recognize that switching things off isn’t the solution to climate change on its own, we think saving energy is a good first building block and the actions that we encourage the students to adopt will save them loads of money when they move into their next accommodation.

Are you interested in joining the competition or just have questions about the project? Please contact Project coordinator Agneta Mattiasson or Country manager Erica Sjölin, for further information in English.
